DIY Drink Ball Terrarium
You may have seen the round party drink dispensers at your grocery store. While they make great quick drinks after the party is over the round dispensers can be up-cycled. Don’t just trash it as it can be used to make a variety of items from a fishbowl to a terrarium. This quick DIY project will be fast & simple.
Prep & Design
First wash and rinse your bowl then dry with a soft cloth. These are plastic so take care not to scratch it. At this point we will not be using the dispenser so go ahead and dispose of it. Now simply fill with soil and your choice of stones, moss etc. along with some plants. You can leave the top on it and decorate it however you please.
For mine I simply cut the plastic in a circular area about an inch from the opening. To create the decorative glass edging I used a soldering iron and gently shaped the plastic. Be careful when using heat to shape plastic as the fumes / smoke are not healthy. I didn’t let the iron touch the plastic so I did not generate any smoke. It just takes patience.
A tip, design your bowl BEFORE adding the soil and plants. I have pictures of the terrarium with the top on and after I cut it off. Enjoy your new up-cycled creation.
